Your ham license renewal, on one card.
An amateur license runs 10 years. Put in your expiration date and this card counts down, shows when the FCC's 90-day renewal window opens, and puts both dates on your calendar. Free, no sign-up, and it stays on this phone.

How to renew
- Wait for the window. The FCC takes a renewal no sooner than 90 days before expiration (47 CFR 1.949), or any time in the 2-year grace period after.
- Log in to the ULS License Manager with your FRN and password (the FRN comes from CORES).
- Choose Renew under Work on this License on your License At A Glance page. Update your address and email, answer the questions, certify and submit.
- Pay the $35 within 10 days of filing.
- No exam. Filed by the expiration date, you can keep operating until the FCC acts.
| Fee (FCC, 47 CFR 1.1102) | Amount |
|---|---|
| Amateur license renewal (code PRAN) | $35 |
Pay within 10 days of the application date (FCC renewal page).
If it expires first
- You can still renew for 2 years, but you can't transmit until it's granted: "Unless and until the license grant is renewed, no privileges in this part are conferred" (47 CFR 97.21(b)).
- After the 2 years the FCC can't grant it. You test again: no credit for Element 2 (Technician); a former General keeps credit for Element 3, a former Extra for Elements 3 and 4 (47 CFR 97.505).
