Free tools for the water, the woods and the road home.

Headed In LLC makes two free apps for getting out and back. Headed In is for boaters. Headed Back is for hunters, anglers, hikers and road trips. Both carry the charts, forecasts and logs other apps charge for, and both text the people you picked if you're not back when you said. Our three Ticket apps help you study for the license: captain's, drone pilot and ham radio.

The apps

Headed In and Headed Back share one core: say where you're headed and when you'll be back. Your family follows a live link with no app and no login. If you're late, our server texts them your last position, even if your phone died after the trip reached us. The three Ticket apps are free license study guides built on one study engine: on the web today, and on iPhone once Apple says yes. Tap a postcard to visit that app's website.

What's new

We ship something most days. Each marker is a day, newest at the top.

  1. OCT22
    Headed In

New and free in Hall Pass: Behavior Tech Ticket at headedin.com/rbt, practice for the RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) exam on the BACB's 3rd edition outline that every exam has used since January 2026. 250 of our own questions across all 6 content areas and all 43 tasks, from interval recording and preference assessments to prompting, extinction bursts and the ethics code's gift rule, each tagged to its task, every answer explained and sourced, with full-length practice tests (75 scored + 10 unscored in 90 minutes) and a Pass Meter.

    Headed Back

Headed Back's Play tab got its own look: the license plate game, Swamp Ape, critters, road-trip trivia, Walk the dog, My Day, Real Florida bingo and the Big Tree Hunt now wear palm-colored badges instead of emoji (Walk the dog's is a fire hydrant).

  2. OCT21
    Headed In

Mote Marine Laboratory said yes: our beach flags keep coming from their Beach Conditions Reporting System, and there is now a Become a Beach Ambassador page at headedin.com/beach-ambassador (Florida Panhandle volunteers first, about a minute a report). Ask the AI connector about a Panhandle beach and it shares the training link too.

  3. OCT19
    Headed Back

Headed Back 0.3.0 is live as the road-trip game app: the license plate game, Swamp Ape Millionaire, road-trip trivia, critters at real places and The Daily Humidity, with Play as the first tab and a brag card for every game. headedback.com tells the same story now.

    Headed In

New in Hall Pass: an ACS code lookup at headedin.com/pilot/acs-codes. Paste the codes from your FAA knowledge test report (like PA.I.C.K2) and see each Area of Operation, Task and element in plain English, straight from the current ACS, for the Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI and FOI tests, with how many of our practice questions cover each code and one to try right there. One tap copies the list to send to your CFI.

    Headed In

Captain's Ticket adds a free captain's license practice test page at headedin.com/captain/practice-test: how the Coast Guard exam is graded module by module (90% on Rules of the Road, 70% on the rest), 20 real questions with answers from the six-pack and 100-ton exams, and a link to every one of the 79 license pages.

  4. OCT18
    Headed In

PT Ticket and OT Ticket add How to get your license pages for all 50 states and DC at headedin.com/pt/licensed and headedin.com/ot/licensed: for each state its board, fees, any jurisprudence or law exam, the fingerprint or background check, temporary permits, and whether it is in the PT Compact or the OT Compact (and since when it accepts privileges), checked against the board's own pages and rules, with free practice for the NPTE, NPTE-PTA, NBCOT OTR and COTA one tap away.

    Headed In

New in Hall Pass: "Did I pass?" pages for 12 exams, the searches people make right before and after test day. Each one gives the exact pass rule from the official source with the date we checked it, what the number does and doesn't mean, and what to do if you didn't pass (retake waits and limits): NREMT EMT (headedin.com/emt/shut-off-at-70) and paramedic, ASWB, NPTE (600), NBCOT (450), NCE, CEN (99 of 150), FAA written tests (70%, plus what the ACS codes on your test report mean), Part 107 (42 of 60), ham radio (26 of 35), Coast Guard license modules (Rules of the Road 90%) and the 2025 citizenship test (12 of 20). Each page has a big button into that guide's free practice test.

    Headed In

New in Hall Pass: free 10-question quizzes at headedin.com/quiz for the NREMT, NCLEX-RN, ASWB Masters, FAA Part 107, ham Technician, private pilot and Coast Guard OUPV exams. Ten random questions from each study guide, the answer and the reason after every one, and a score card to share ("I got 8/10 on the NREMT quiz"). Plus two career quizzes in the style of headedin.com/path: which EMS job fits you (headedin.com/path/ems) and which water job fits you (headedin.com/path/water), each result with what the job takes and its source.

    Headed In

RN Ticket adds How to get your RN license pages for all 50 states and DC at headedin.com/nclex/licensed: the national NCLEX steps (Pearson VUE registration, the Authorization to Test, the $350 fee from February 1, 2027), which states are in the Nurse Licensure Compact, and for each state its board, fees, fingerprint or background check, renewal cycle and continuing education, worked through from the board's own pages and rule text with the date we checked it. Every page links to the free NCLEX shut-off simulator.

    Headed In

Social Work Ticket and Counselor Ticket add state licensing pages for social work and counseling for every state and DC, 102 pages at headedin.com/socialwork/licensed and headedin.com/counselor/licensed: which license titles the state uses, which ASWB exam each one needs, whether the state uses the NCE or the NCMHCE (said plainly when it's the NCMHCE, which our guide doesn't cover), supervised hours, board fees and law exams, each worked through from the state board's own pages and rule text with the date we checked it. Free.

    Headed In

New in Hall Pass: ER Nurse Ticket at headedin.com/cen, free practice for the CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) exam, built on the new BCEN outline that took effect July 6, 2026 (pass = 99 of 150). 270 of our own ED-case questions across all 11 domains, split the way the exam is, each tagged to its outline topic so the score report shows exactly what you miss: what to do FIRST, which order to question, which antidote, plus triage, EMTALA, forensic care and restraint rules. Every answer explained and its public source named (AHA, CDC, ATLS, Surviving Sepsis, ACOG, FDA labels). Practice tests at the real 66% mark and a Pass Meter. Linked from the EMT guides for EMTs headed into ER nursing. Free; not affiliated with BCEN or ENA.

    Headed In

New: which license should you get? A five-question quiz at headedin.com/path points you to a path that fits (EMT, nurse, social work or counseling, PT or OT, pilot or drone, boat captain, aircraft mechanic or radio), with what it takes and a free practice exam to start on. Every free study guide also now says so in its title, so people searching for free practice tests can find them.

    Headed In

EMT Ticket's how-to-become-an-EMT guide now has a page for every state and Washington, DC under headedin.com/emt/licensed, each worked through step by step from that state's own EMS office pages and rule text: age, course, which exam (North Carolina and New York give their own), background check, fees, renewal and moving from another state, every source linked with the date we checked it. Where a state doesn't publish a step, the page says to ask your program instead of guessing. Free.

    Headed In

OT Ticket adds the COTA level at headedin.com/ot/cota, on the same OTR/COTA switch: practice for the NBCOT COTA exam, the certification for occupational therapy assistants, split the way the 2022 COTA outline splits it (gather information 27%, carry out interventions 55%, professional standards 18%). 214 of our own questions, 103 of them written just for COTAs: contributing data within service competency, carrying out the OTR's plan, knowing when to stop and tell the OT, plus billing, documentation and ethics from the assistant's side, with stand-alone pick-three-of-six questions like the real exam. Every answer names its public source, every question its outline task. Free.

    Headed In

Social Work Ticket now covers all four ASWB exams: the Advanced Generalist level is new at headedin.com/socialwork/advanced, for the advanced nonclinical license a few states offer (Texas's LMSW-AP, for one), split 35/33/32 like the 2026 outline. 533 questions: the core vignettes plus 30 written for this level on leadership, hiring and appraisal, program evaluation and how it changes services, grant proposals, quality assurance and research ethics. The Bachelors level grows to 449 with 24 more recall questions (social welfare history, SSDI, ICWA, Erikson, CAGE, Rothman's community models). Every answer explained and sourced. Free.

    Headed In

Social Work Ticket adds the Bachelors level at headedin.com/socialwork/bachelors, first on the Bachelors/Masters/Clinical switch: practice for the ASWB Bachelors exam, the one states use for a bachelors-level license (LBSW, LSW), split the way the 2026 Bachelors outline splits it (Values and Ethics 35%, Assessment and Planning 33%, Intervention and Practice 32%). 425 questions with more recall, like the real Bachelors exam: the generalist vignettes plus 39 written just for this level on task-centered practice, assertiveness and role play, human behavior theories and the federal programs clients use (WIC, LIHEAP, Medicare, IDEA). Every answer explained and sourced, a score report by outline code, 110-question practice tests and a Pass Meter. Free.

    Headed In

Every study guide, Captain's Ticket included, now opens with Today's 5: a random mix from every topic (switch it to 10 for more), with a miss or two coming back so they stick. The goal is a couple of days a week, not every day, and the streak counts weeks in a row. New setting, Explain as I go: practice tests show why the best answer is best before you move to the next question. Free on every guide.

    Headed In

New and free: OT Ticket at headedin.com/ot, practice for the NBCOT OTR exam, the certification every state requires to license occupational therapists. 258 of our own clinical-case questions split the way the 2022 outline splits the real test (evaluation 23%, analysis and planning 23%, interventions 38%, practice management 16%), from hand therapy and orthoses to sensory strategies, feeding, seating, home modification and Medicare rules. Twelve scenario sets work like the real exam's: an opening scene, then four questions where you pick the three best of six. Every answer names its public source, the score report works by outline task, and there are 90-question practice tests, the Pass Meter, Report a problem on every question and a how-to-get-licensed page.

    Headed In

Social Work Ticket adds the Clinical level at headedin.com/socialwork/clinical, on the same Masters/Clinical switch: practice for the ASWB Clinical exam, the one states use for the LCSW, split the way the 2026 Clinical outline splits it (Values and Ethics 36%, Assessment and Planning 32%, Intervention and Practice 32%). 635 questions: the core vignettes plus 140 written just for clinicians, on DSM-5-TR differential diagnosis (how long, how many, what came first), psychotherapy models from cognitive processing therapy and prolonged exposure to DBT, ACT and couples work, the duty to protect, confidentiality in couples and teen therapy, research ethics and clinical supervision. The Masters bank doubled too, from 251 to 509 of our own sourced questions, with at least three on every knowledge statement in the outline. Free.

    Headed In

New and free: Counselor Ticket at headedin.com/counselor, practice for the National Counselor Examination (NCE), the licensing exam most states use for the LPC or LMHC. 257 of our own questions across all six NCE domains in the content outline's weights, every one of its 173 statements covered: "what should the counselor do FIRST" vignettes plus the theorists, stages, DSM-5-TR criteria and statistics the exam asks about. Every answer is explained and names its source (ACA Code of Ethics, HIPAA, SAMHSA, CDC, NIMH), the score report works by outline code, and there are 80-question practice tests, the Pass Meter, Report a problem on every question, and a how-to-get-licensed page with Texas, Florida and California worked through.

    Headed In

PT Ticket adds the PTA level at headedin.com/pt/pta, on the same PT/PTA switch: practice for the NPTE-PTA, the national exam for physical therapist assistants, split the way the January 2024 PTA outline splits it, with its heavier weight on devices, modalities and safety. 239 of our own questions (68 written just for PTAs: data collection, carrying out the plan of care, knowing when to stop and call the PT), each tagged to its outline cell, every answer cited to a public source, plus a 70-question practice test and a Pass Meter. Free.

    Headed In

New and free: PT Ticket at headedin.com/pt, practice for the NPTE-PT, the national exam every state uses to license physical therapists, split the way the January 2024 content outline splits it. 252 of our own questions, mostly clinical cases (the findings, then the best test, treatment, precaution or referral), each tagged to its outline cell so the score report shows the cells you miss, and every answer cites a public source. Plus 90-question practice tests, a Pass Meter and a how-to-get-licensed page.

    Headed In

New and free: Social Work Ticket at headedin.com/socialwork, practice for the ASWB Masters exam (the LMSW exam in most states) on the new outline ASWB started using August 3, 2026. 251 of our own questions, mostly "what should the social worker do FIRST" vignettes like the real exam, split the way the outline is (Values and Ethics 35%, Assessment and Planning 33%, Intervention and Practice 32%), each tagged to its outline code so the score report shows exactly what to study. Every answer explains why and names its source (NASW Code of Ethics, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, SAMHSA). Plus a plain-English page on getting licensed, state by state. Built by an RN; not affiliated with ASWB.

    Headed In

Every question in the free study guides now has a Report a problem link. Think one is wrong? Tap it under the answer, say why and add your source. We check it against the source and post the ruling, fixed or not, under that question and in each guide's new Checked answers list. We also now count which questions people miss most on their first try (just the question number, nothing about you), so the hard or broken ones get a second look.

    Headed In

New and free: the NCLEX-RN shut-off simulator at headedin.com/nclex/shutoff. Nursing students ask one thing after the exam: it shut off at 85, did I pass? Now they can see how it really works. Take a practice run on the stopping rules in NCSBN's 2026 test plan (85 to 150 questions, 15 unscored, 3 clinical judgment case studies with a chart that updates, highlight, drop-down and bowtie items) and see where your sim stops, with every answer explained at the end and a card to share. Or watch test-takers at any level and run 1,000 at once: most stop at 85, passes and fails alike. Plus a plain-English page on what 85, 150 and running out of time mean. Built by an RN; our own questions, not affiliated with NCSBN.

Class Board school plans now cost $5 per student per month, only for the months a class runs, or $299 a year for a whole program up to 100 students. A board for up to 10 students stays free, students never pay, and the guides stay free for everyone.

    Headed In

Class Board now shows weak topics: instructors at headedin.com/class see each student's Pass Meter next to their weakest topics by the exam's own outline (NREMT domains for EMR, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, FAA ACS areas, Coast Guard modules), the codes they miss most, and the last day they studied, plus a Teach next list that adds up the class's weakest topics. Students can type the class code right on the Hall Pass shelf, each student counts once however many guides they study, the board writes the email to your students and prints a QR poster that opens the class's own guide, and there's a one-page how-to for program directors. Students still never share single answers, and a new Erase button on the privacy page deletes everything a browser ever sent. Free for up to 10 students per board.

EMT Ticket is complete: all four levels are live, EMR, EMT, AEMT and now Paramedic at headedin.com/emt/paramedic/. 905 questions built to the NREMT Paramedic test plan in use since July 2024, about a third in 70 scenarios you run as the crew leader en route, on scene and after the call, and a third of cardiology on ECG rhythm strips and 12-leads. The strips are ours: our own script draws every one on real 25 mm/s paper with the calibration pulse and 3-second marks, so the rate counts out by the 6-second method and the PR and QRS measure true. ACLS, PALS and newborn doses checked against the AHA, FDA labels and the NASEMSO model guidelines, every answer naming its source. Call it in got its Paramedic switch for real: ALS treatments on the glove and a med-control order you have to ask for, granted or denied in the hospital's read-back. Free.

    Headed In

EMT Ticket climbs to the Advanced EMT level at headedin.com/emt/aemt/: 600 of our own questions built to the NREMT AEMT test plan in use since July 2024, a third of them in 43 scenarios that unfold en route, on scene and after the call, the way the exam's Clinical Judgment domain runs them, each question tagged to its step of the clinical judgment cycle (recognize cues, analyze, hypothesis, solutions, action, evaluation). The rest covers airway, cardiology and resuscitation, trauma, medical and OB, and operations at the AEMT scope: IV and IO access, fluids, dextrose, glucagon, IM epinephrine, nebulized albuterol, nitrous oxide, supraglottic airways, CPAP and waveform capnography, with doses checked against the NASEMSO model guidelines and every answer naming its federal source. Graphical questions put a capnography waveform, a monitor screen or an IV set in front of you. The study engine learned scenario sets for this (a study round keeps a scenario together; the practice test draws whole scenarios), so every guide on the site can use them. The level switch on every EMT page now reads EMR / EMT / AEMT. Free. A study aid, not a protocol.

    Headed In

Call it in: EMT Ticket now has an EMS radio report trainer at headedin.com/emt/radio/. The patient notes are on your glove; hold the button, give the hospital your radio report out loud, and the hospital copies back what you actually said, wrong age and all. Thirty scenarios written to the EMT scope (chest pain, stroke signs, hypoglycemia, anaphylaxis, overdose, OB, cardiac arrest and more), graded for every element of the report and the order, against a 30-second clock, with a one-line list of what you left out. Listen mode reads you a report and quizzes you on it. Speech recognition runs on your device or not at all; in Safari you say it out loud and check yourself. Free. A drill, not your protocol.

    Headed In

EMT Ticket now carries all five item types the NREMT exam uses: multiple-choice, multiple-response, build-list, and the two new ones, options-table and drag-and-drop (sort each row into the right column, scored all-or-nothing like the real thing). Sixteen new table items (624 questions in all, 550 at the EMR level) on medications an EMT gives versus assists with, START triage tags, AVPU, oxygen devices and flow rates, bleeding control, shock stages, the Cincinnati stroke scale, PPE by hazard, splint choice and CPR numbers by age. The renderer lives in the shared study engine, so every guide on the site can use it. A study aid, not a protocol.

    Headed In

EMT Ticket grew to 608 questions (560 multiple-choice, 31 multiple-response, 17 build-list), every one still tagged to its NREMT job task, and gained a free EMR level at headedin.com/emt/emr/: the 537 questions an Emergency Medical Responder is tested on, in the EMR exam’s own weights (90-110 items, 1 h 45 min), with a 60-question practice test, Pass Meter and score report by task. For firefighters, police, lifeguards and anyone first on scene before the ambulance. Switch levels at the top of either page. A study aid, not a protocol.

New York worked through on the EMT Ticket licensing page (headedin.com/emt/licensed), next to Florida: New York certifies its own EMTs, with the state BLS practical skills exam from your course, then the state written exam at a PSI center or by remote proctor (or the NREMT exam by choice since September 2024), three attempts per eligibility and two years from the end of the course, 48-month certificates, the 45-hour CME renewal, and reciprocity for NREMT and out-of-state card holders. Every fact checked October 16, 2026 against the Bureau of EMS pages, policy statements 24-06 and 25-06 and 10 NYCRR Part 800, all linked from the page.

    Headed In

EMT Ticket at headedin.com/emt: a free study guide for the NREMT EMT cognitive exam (April 2025 test plan) and the state EMT exams built on the same national standards. 369 of our own questions written to the National EMS Education Standards and Scope of Practice Model, every one tagged to one of the 28 job tasks in the exam’s five domains, with a score report by task, a Pass Meter, and a plain-English how-to-get-licensed page (the national steps, a link to your state’s rules, Florida worked through as the example). Built by an RN and former EMT. A study aid, not a protocol: follow your medical director. Not affiliated with the National Registry or any state EMS office.

Tower radio at headedin.com/atc (Talk like a controller > Radio): hold the push-to-talk button, say the call, and the page grades every element against FAA Order JO 7110.65 and the order you said it in, then a pilot reads it back and one readback in four has a mistake to catch. Twenty kinds of calls, from a landing clearance to a low altitude alert. Speech recognition runs on the device or not at all (Chrome and Edge with on-device recognition today; otherwise you say it and check it yourself). Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere. Coming to the Hall Pass app with its next build.

  8. OCT12
    Headed In

Hospital Corpsman E-6 practice grew from 397 to 436 questions (headedin.com/navy/hm/e6): sewage and wastewater, ashore and afloat, from the MSD types and how far out a ship may pump, to CHT tank alarms, why the big tanks are aerated, how nested ships pass sewage to the pier, and why only the safety watch gets the spare SCBA.

    Headed In

Hospital Corpsman E-5 practice grew from 374 to 421 questions (headedin.com/navy/hm): the ship's water from the corpsman's side, from why single-pass RO water still gets chlorine and how much calcium hypochlorite a fast-attack sub may carry, to the 1-ounce-per-5,000-gallon rule, the air gap under every faucet, and how to run down a taste and odor complaint.

    Headed In

Boatswain's Mate E-6 practice grew from 410 to 450 questions (headedin.com/navy/bm/e6): the fine print of the Rules of the Road, from how high the masthead lights sit and how big a day shape is, to every distress signal in Annex IV, the blue and red-yellow lights on patrol boats, and the bridge-to-bridge radio rules on channel 13.

    Headed In

Boatswain's Mate E-6 practice grew from 360 to 410 questions (headedin.com/navy/bm/e6): lights, shapes and fog signals the way a BM1 meets them on the bridge, like what a tug shows with 250 meters of tow out, which side of a dredge you pass, how close you can get to a minesweeper, what you sound towing a target sled in fog, and when the gong follows the bell.

    Headed In

Boatswain's Mate E-5 practice grew from 432 to 481 questions (headedin.com/navy/bm): the Rules of the Road from the coxswain's seat, Rules 1 to 19, International and the Inland differences, like why a ship alongside the oiler is restricted in her ability to maneuver, who has the right of way going downriver, and what you do when you hear a fog signal forward of the beam.

    Headed In

Culinary Specialist E-5 practice grew from 329 to 371 questions (headedin.com/navy/cs): the scullery and the water side of the galley, from why a quat bucket can fool your test strip (the cloth soaks up 40 percent) and why gel bleach is banned, to the ice machine plate count that triggers a cleaning, the air gap under every faucet, and why steel wool never touches galley gear.

    Headed In

Culinary Specialist E-6 practice grew from 280 to 319 questions (headedin.com/navy/cs/e6): the why behind galley equipment rules a CS1 has to defend at inspection, from copper poisoning out of a soda carbonator and zinc out of a galvanized can, to why a modified dish machine loses its NSF listing, why the reach-in thermometer can not sit in the coldest corner, and why a bayonet thermometer can not read a burger patty.

    Headed In

Culinary Specialist E-5 practice grew from 289 to 329 questions (headedin.com/navy/cs): vacuum packing and sous vide (why Brie and unfrozen fish are out), what to do with surplus before it goes bad, the 45-day freezer limit, the eight major allergens, how the raw-food menu warning has to read, and the study that set the 4-hour time rule.

    Headed In

Commercial Pilot practice at headedin.com/commercial grew from 1,416 to 1,493 questions, aimed at the ACS tasks the bank had skipped: power-on stalls from entry to recovery, taxi clearances and the explicit runway-crossing rule, UNABLE, runway incursion causes, wind socks and tetrahedrons, the emergency descent, diverting to an alternate with a VOR compass rose, lost procedures and DF steers, the short-field takeoff, the steep spiral, slow flight and speed instability, and the after-landing, parking and securing checks. Company

The Morse code trainer at headedin.com/ham/morse adds Send it: work an on-screen key (or the space bar), hear your own sidetone, and it reads back what you sent letter by letter, then grades your fist: your speed and how your dahs measure against your dits.

    Company

Hall Pass (headedin.com/tickets) now shelves the free guides that have no exam too: the GMRS radio guide and the Morse code trainer under On the radio.

    Company

New free air traffic controller guide at headedin.com/atc, because the FAA is hiring: how you get hired (under 31, USAJOBS, the ATSA test, the Academy in Oklahoma City, the pay), a drill on how controllers actually talk (22 kinds of calls, from altitudes to hold short and go around) with every answer checked against the FAA's own controller handbook, and a radar game where you keep the planes 3 miles or 1,000 feet apart, with a card for your best score. Plus Skills practice: timed rounds of reading dials, judging angles, controller-style quick math and scanning a scope, for the kinds of skills the FAA hiring test measures (practice, not real test questions).

Coming in the next app update: a drone flight log that fills itself in. Tap LAUNCH and it writes down where you took off, the time, the wind and whether it is day, civil twilight or night by the FAA's own definition (with the lighting rule when it is not daytime); tap LANDED and it times the flight. It counts battery cycles, shows how long until your Part 107 recurrent and registration run out, makes a pilot card to share, and exports a spreadsheet. On your phone only. Under More > Flying a drone.

    Headed In

Coming in the next app update: the Engine log keeps every job you do as a service history (date, engine hours, who did it, cost, a note), takes past work from your notebook or shop invoices, and makes a service record you can hand a buyer: a printable page or a spreadsheet, shared from your phone. No account, nothing to keep paying for, and it shows how much of your schedule you kept.

    Company

Captain's Ticket goes up to 1600 tons: Master and Mate less than 500-1600 GRT, Near Coastal, Oceans and Inland, plus one-module upgrades for tug captains (Master of Towing Vessels to Master 500 ton) and Second Mates. 587 more Coast Guard sample questions from the August 2026 tests, free at headedin.com/captain.

One $35 license covers the whole family.

    Headed In

Coming in the next app update: the Radio card under More. The VHF channels in plain English (leave it on 16, talk on 68), the radio words, and the MAY DAY, PAN PAN and Securite calls written out with your boat name spelled the Coast Guard way and your position filled in. Works with no signal, and the no-signal Help screen opens it.

    Company

Off the ship at 8, flying at 4? Ask your AI and it now hands you a debark day from our picks: a few good stops near the port, trimmed so you're at the airport 2 hours before your flight (3 if you're flying abroad), with the time to leave. Coming in the next app update: Off the Ship, the same plan with a leave-for-the-airport countdown and reminders.

    Both

Which side of the plane? Ask your AI before you pick a seat and it now hands you our answer: the big sights out each window between two US airports, in order, like Lake Okeechobee, the Sunshine Skyway or the Outer Banks. Coming in the next app update: Window seat, the flight map that works in airplane mode, with your altitude, your speed, the state under you and a heads-up when the next sight is coming up, all with no Wi-Fi.

    Both

Wave off a cruise ship: ask your AI which ships sail from Port Canaveral or Port Tampa Bay tonight and it tells you when they leave, straight from the ports' own schedules, and when each one slides past Jetty Park, Sparkman Wharf or under the Skyway. Coming in the next app update: the Sail-away spotter, with a heads-up 10 minutes before and a ship log for every one you wave off from the pier.

    Both

Ask your AI what flag is flying at the beach and it can now tell you: the flag lifeguards reported this morning at the nearest beaches (red, double red, purple and the rest), what time they reported it, the water temperature, and whether they saw rip currents, jellyfish or red tide. It comes from Mote Marine Laboratory's beach reports, about twice a day at 131 beaches, and never calls the water safe. Coming in the next app update: the same card at the top of Beach flags.

    Both

Ask your AI for a Florida bucket list and it can now hand you ours: the Florida Passport, 55 stamps on 11 region pages, from Mile Marker 0 and Coral Castle to a spring swim, Skunk Ape HQ and the spot where your phone jumps an hour. Give it where you are and it names the closest stamps and exactly where to stand. Coming in the next app update: the Passport itself, where a stamp only counts when you're standing there.

    Both

Our AI connector speaks Spanish and Portuguese: when a visitor from Brazil, Colombia, Argentina or Mexico asks their AI for things to do, a cruise shore day or the nearest beach from the airport, every one of our 247 Florida picks now comes back described in their language (lang=es or lang=pt), with the place names as they are on the sign. Coming in the next app update: an English | Español | Português switch at the top of Local, so Plan a day, Picks and Spin read in your language too, down to the send-a-friend text and the calendar event.

    Both

Past trips on the family link: the view-only page your family opens from a text now lists your finished trips from the last 30 days, with when you left and got back, whether you were back on time, and any alert they were texted. Only trips that person got a text about, times only, never where you went. Someone set to emergency texts only sees an alert count instead of an on-time record. English and Spanish.

    Company

Spaced reviews in every study guide on Hall Pass (Ham, Drone, GROL, the FAA and FEMA guides and the rest): a question you got right comes back after 10 minutes, then 1, 3, 7 and 21 days, the same Leitner schedule Captain's Ticket already used. Study 10 now mixes misses, reviews that are due and new ones, and a new Review due button shows how many came back today. Hall Pass shows the due count on each ticket. Everything stays in your browser.

Zero bars gets a "Got it": check in by text with no data (satellite texting on iPhone 14 and newer, and T-Satellite phones on any US carrier) and our server now texts you back "Got it" so you know it went through. Coming in the next app update: a More > Zero bars screen that checks what your phone can do, and builds marked satellite-ready on iPhone and Android that send your trip only, in small pieces, on a carrier satellite data link.

    Headed In

Checked in by text shows on the family page: when the boater's phone has no data and they text HI OK with their trip code, the page the family follows now says so and when, with a satellite icon. A plain text is what works with no bars, including satellite texting on newer iPhones.

    Headed In

Ask your AI when to go fishing: our free AI connector now answers with the Bite Score for anywhere in Florida waters, 1 to 10 for today and the next two weeks from the moon, NOAA tides, wind and pressure, plus the best-bite hours and this week's two best days. The glasses page and Headed Back on Alexa say it too, near the coast.

    Company

Captain's Ticket now shows 32 engine-room drawings right in the question (gas turbines, steam governors, diesel timing, firefighting gear) for 72 picture questions. They come from U.S. Navy, Army and Maritime Administration manuals, which are public domain, so we can show them with credit; the rest still open on the Coast Guard's own page.

    Company

Captain's Ticket engine-officer guides now include the picture questions: 561 more questions where a button opens the drawing on its page of the Coast Guard's free sample exam. The drawings are textbook art we can't copy, so we link to the Coast Guard's own copy instead.

Ask your AI what to do anywhere on the Florida coast: the AI connector's find_places now has our Locals' Picks for Miami, Naples-Fort Myers, Sarasota, the Space Coast, Jacksonville-St. Augustine and the Panhandle, not just Tampa Bay. 215 places, nobody pays to be listed.

    Company

Aircraft Dispatcher guide (headedin.com/dispatcher) adds the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston Intercontinental Chart Supplement pages and VOR position reading: 535 questions, all free.

Treasure ahead on the glasses (headedin.com/glasses) gets a Water card: the nearest inlet (stacking up or not, with any NWS warning), red tide in FWC's words, beach bacteria advisories within 3 miles, and a sandbar's big day when it's on or this week. Glanceable, from the same live data as the AI connector.

    Both

Ask your AI where to fish or dive: the new artificial_reefs tool finds FWC's public artificial reefs and sunken ships near any spot in Florida, 4,519 of them, with depth, what was sunk and how far away. Not for navigation.

    Company

Aircraft Dispatcher guide (headedin.com/dispatcher) adds every remaining en route chart in the FAA supplement, including South and Central Florida (Miami, Key West, Orlando, Cape Canaveral restricted areas): 524 questions, all free.

    Company

Aircraft Dispatcher guide (headedin.com/dispatcher) adds OBS and ILS needle reading, more Chart Supplement airports (Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Eagle, Whiteman) and low and high altitude en route charts: 482 questions, all free.

    Headed In

    Headed In

Ask your AI if the inlet's rough: the new inlet_watch tool works out Inlet watch for 35 Florida inlets and passes (outgoing tide into an onshore wind, hour by hour) and names any NWS warning there. In a storm-strength wind it no longer calls an inlet OK; it says the wind is too strong for the tide rule and to check the warnings, in the app too.

    Company

Aircraft Dispatcher guide (headedin.com/dispatcher) is now 453 questions: every arrival in the FAA testing supplement, helicopter hover ceilings, HSI displays, holding fuel, takeoff EPR, altimeter-to-pressure-altitude, and climb, descent and landing graphs worked from the FAA's own printed examples. All free.

    Headed In

Ask your AI if there's a launch: the Headed In AI connector now has a rocket_launches tool with every launch from Kennedy and the Cape in the next two weeks (rocket, mission, pad, Eastern time, Go / Hold / Scrubbed, the stream link) and where to watch on the Space Coast. Closest first, the health department's own link, and one line to say out loud. Treasure ahead on the glasses (headedin.com/glasses) shows it on the Sky card within 3 miles. No advisory never means a clean test, and it says so.

    Company

Captain's Ticket now covers tugs and towboats: free study guides for the Coast Guard Towing Vessels exams (Master, Mate and Apprentice Mate/Steersman) on Western Rivers (TV03), Great Lakes & Inland (TV02), Near Coastal and Oceans (TV01) at headedin.com/captain. 393 more questions from the National Maritime Center's 2026 sample exams, practice tests at the real pass marks, the Brig and the Pass Meter. Teachers can text the join link or print a classroom poster with a QR code, and the board now shows the class's real exam results: who took it, who passed, and the pass rate. Pilot schools get one class free in exchange for sharing pass/fail counts.

    Company

Class Board at headedin.com/class: a teacher starts a free board for any of our study guides (no account) and gets a 6-letter class code. Students 13 and older join from their guide with the code and a first name, and the teacher sees each one's Pass Meter, ready date, practice tests and whether they passed the real exam, so a maritime or A&P school can see who is ready to book the test. Students see exactly what is shared and can leave any time. Every guide also asks Took the real one? after the exam: I passed or Not this time, and you can count your result anonymously so the Pass Meter gets a report card from real exams.

Captain's Ticket now covers more than captains: the Assistance Towing endorsement (the TowBoatUS / Sea Tow job), the Auxiliary Sail endorsement, Able Seafarer (AB) and Lifeboat Operator, regular and Limited. That's 176 more questions from the Coast Guard's own 2026 sample exams, each graded at the real 70% pass mark, with the Pass Meter on every one. Pick them under Change license at headedin.com/captain.

    Company

Captain's Ticket has the Pass Meter now too. A captain's license is several Coast Guard module tests, and you have to pass all of them, so it shows your chance on each module at its real pass mark (90% for Rules of the Road, 70% for the rest), your chance on the whole license, and the module where an hour of study counts most.

    Company

The Pass Meter is on the ham, drone, citizenship and FCC radio guides (Captain's Ticket is next): your chance of passing the real exam if it were today, worked out from your own answers and an exam built the way the real one is drawn. It shows your expected score, the topic worth the most points, and the day you'll hit 90% at your pace. Plus a new guide at headedin.com/grol for the FCC commercial radio licenses: Element 1, the GROL (Element 3, with all 17 circuit drawings) and the ship radar endorsement (Element 8, with all 12 drawings).

    Company

This page now shows every app we make: Headed In and Headed Back, plus three study apps for iPhone (Captain's Ticket, Drone Ticket and Ham Ticket, all in App Store review and all free on the web today). A new "Study for a license" list covers the free guides, including the citizenship civics test, and the research section adds the numbers behind them.

    Headed In

Two more free study guides on the same engine. Ham radio now goes all the way up: General (all 423 questions of the 2023-2027 pool) and Amateur Extra (all 599 of the 2024-2028 pool, with the circuit diagrams and the Smith chart) sit next to Technician, one tap apart at headedin.com/ham. And headedin.com/citizen covers the U.S. citizenship test: all 128 questions of the 2025 civics test, practice tests scored like the interview (20 asked, 12 to pass), and every answer USCIS accepts shown after each question.

    Headed In

Ham radio study (headedin.com/ham) now explains every answer: all 409 Technician questions get a plain "why" line, with the math worked out on the formula questions and the FCC rule linked on the rules ones.

    Headed In

Captain's Ticket now covers the FCC Marine Radio Operator Permit, the radio license you need to run passengers for hire: all 144 questions in the FCC's own Element 1 pool, and a practice test built like the real one (one question from each of the 24 topics, 18 right to pass). Pick it from Change license on headedin.com/captain. Master-license students get a nudge, since more than 6 passengers means the FCC wants it too.

    Headed In

Two more study apps for iPhone, sisters of Captain's Ticket: Drone Ticket (FAA Part 107, with the Chart room) is in App Review, and Ham Ticket (all 409 questions of the 2026-2030 ham radio Technician pool, with zoomable circuit diagrams) is built. Both free, both work with no signal, both collect nothing.

    Headed In

Chart room on headedin.com/drone: the FAA's own test charts (sectionals for Norfolk, Minot, Coeur d'Alene, Savannah, Jamestown and Toledo, plus the load factor chart and METARs) that you can drag, pinch and zoom. Tap a numbered area to fly to it, then answer the FAA's 13 chart questions on the chart they use. Each one opens zoomed to the right spot. Now 150 questions. A Drone Ticket app for iPhone is coming.

    Headed In

Part 107 Drone (headedin.com/drone): free study for the FAA remote pilot test, the one you need to fly for pay. 137 questions: the FAA's own samples plus ones written from the rules, each with the reason and a link to the rule. 10-question rounds, a timed 60-question practice test that passes at 42, a missed-question pile and flip cards. Progress stays on the phone.

    Headed In

Ham Radio Technician (headedin.com/ham): free study for the FCC ham radio Technician exam with all 409 questions from the new 2026-2030 pool, word for word, plus the three circuit diagrams. Practice tests are built like the real one, a question from each of the 35 groups, and pass at 26. Rule questions link to the FCC rule.

    Headed In

Captain's Ticket (headedin.com/captain): free study for the Coast Guard captain's license, six-pack (OUPV) or 100-ton. 448 questions from the Coast Guard's own sample exams, 10-question rounds, practice tests with the real pass marks (90% Rules of the Road, 70% the rest), a missed-question pile, and drills for night lights, day shapes and whistle and fog signals. Works in any phone browser; progress stays on the phone.

  15. OCT7
    Headed In

Family trips on your glasses (headedin.com/glasses): open it with the family link you got by text and the first card is that trip: "Back by 4:30, 2 h left", or overdue in plain words, with an arrow to the last spot. Read only; I'm back stays on the phone.

    Headed Back

Storm heads-up while you're out: during a HEADED OUT trip on land (golf cart, walk, ride or hunt), you get a notification when the National Weather Service puts a thunderstorm or tornado warning on your spot, or forecasts thunderstorms within the hour: "Thunderstorms in about 25 min. Time to head back."

    Headed In

Critters on your glasses (headedin.com/glasses): a new Critter card shows the nearest roadside critter out today, with its drawing, its line of the day, an arrow and how far. Same critters at the same places as the app, so you can walk up and catch them in Headed Back.

    Headed In

Treasure ahead, for Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses (headedin.com/glasses): the nearest true Florida story with an arrow and how far, the closest boat ramp with its live wait, and NOAA's forecast in mph with the next tide and sunset. Swipe the Neural Band to flip cards; pinch to hear it.

NEWWhat the big apps don't do

Your AI and your calendar, plugged in

Plan your day in Claude, ChatGPT or Meta's Muse and it can read what's happening on the water right now. When the plan is set, put it on your calendar with one tap.

Your AI assistantExample

Where can I get diesel near Pass-a-Grille?

Your assistant checks Headed In's list of public fuel docks and what boaters reported in the last few hours, then answers with the closest ones.

Draft a float plan: out of Gandy at 8, back by 3, four aboard.

You check it and start the trip yourself. No AI can start, change or end a trip. It sees public info only, never your trips, contacts or spots.

  • AI connector LiveAsk "closest ramp with a short line?" or "diesel near Pass-a-Grille?" or "when does the Corey Causeway open next?" and get answers from live ramp waits, 62 public fuel docks, boater reports from the last few hours and the federal schedules for 80+ Florida drawbridges. It sees public info only, never your trips, contacts or spots.
  • AI-drafted float plan LiveDescribe the trip in plain words. The assistant fills in the float plan and hands you a link that opens the app. You check it and start the trip yourself. No AI can start, change or end a trip.
  • Plan a day + Add to calendar LivePick a mood (beach, Old Florida, rainy day, weird, road trip). Get our picks in order with drive times, a rain warning, and the whole outing as one calendar event.
  • Best days this month LiveSet your usual days off. See the three best for moon and tide in the next 30 days, then add one to your calendar.
  • Morning brief + tide alarm LiveOne notification at dawn with the moon window, morning wind, first tide turn and sunrise. A heads-up 30 minutes before each high or low.
  • Fish ID from a photo ComingBeing tested now. It will give a best guess plus FWC's care tip, and you still check the regulations yourself.

HOMEThe company

Built in Tampa Bay

Headed In LLC is a small Florida company. It started with a boater who wanted the family at home to know about a late trip without making them download anything. The rest grew from what boaters, hunters and road-trippers kept asking for.

We copy designs that have already worked, like the paper float plan, the anchor-drag alarm, solunar tables and the back-seat license plate game, and put them in one free place. We'd rather collect too little than too much. Most of the tools keep their data on your phone.

Every Florida coast, Miami next. We started on Tampa Bay and now cover the whole state's water: NOAA's marine forecast from the Panhandle to Biscayne Bay and the Keys, about 1,600 public ramps, and the federal opening schedules for 80+ drawbridges, from the Miami River and Miami Beach up both coasts, all open to any AI assistant through our free connector. Miami is where Florida boating and Florida tech meet, so that's where we're building next.

Partners and sponsors: ask about local listings and community projects, or use the free quote above.

The apps are planning and communication tools. They don't replace a VHF radio, a float plan filed with someone ashore, a harness in a tree stand, or calling the Coast Guard (VHF 16) or 911. Texts depend on phone signal and on the trip reaching our server. Forecasts, tides and solunar times are predictions, not promises.
