The FAA Remote Pilot test (Unmanned Aircraft General, test code UAG) has one number to hit. Here it is, with what happens after, from the FAA's testing matrix and Part 107 itself.
70% passes. On the 60-question Part 107 test, that's 42 right.
The UAG test is 60 questions in 2 hours, and you can take it at 14 (you need to be 16 for the certificate). The FAA may add unscored validation questions on top of the 60; they don't count. You leave the test center with your Airman Knowledge Test Report, which shows your score and an ACS code for every question you missed.

Take the free Part 107 practice test60 questions, real FAA chart figures, no sign-upWait 14 calendar days (14 CFR 107.71). No instructor endorsement is needed. Bring the failed test report to the testing center when you retest (FAA Airman Knowledge Testing Matrix). Use the ACS codes on it to see which areas you missed: airspace and chart reading, weather, loading and performance, operations and the rules.
Apply for your remote pilot certificate with the passing test report. Then keep it current: to fly under Part 107 you must have passed the initial test or completed recurrent training within the previous 24 calendar months (14 CFR 107.65). Recurrent is FAA online training, not another test center visit.
