National Registry, separately
Florida renewal and the National Registry are two different things. Florida's renewal list (FDOH) doesn't include Registry status, and renewing with the Registry doesn't renew your Florida certificate. Keep both only if you need both.
Keep it safe
Everything here lives in this browser on this device. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else. FDOH can ask for proof of your hours and card (64J-1.008(2)(d), 64J-1.009(3)), so back it up before you switch phones or clear your browser.
How to renew with FDOH
- Finish the education and keep the proof. FDOH accepts a completion certificate from a department-approved provider, or your EMS agency medical director's affirmation (FDOH). Approved providers are listed on CE Broker's Florida EMT search (paramedic).
- Check your card date. EMTs keep a current CPR card for the professional rescuer, such as AHA BLS (64J-1.008). Paramedics keep a current ACLS card (64J-1.009).
- Sign in to Florida Health Source and pick renew a license. Enter your details; if that fails, use Other Login Option with your MQA user ID and password.
- Tap Renew My License on the dashboard. FDOH says it shows no later than 90 days before the expiration date, so it should be there now.
- Affirm and pay. You affirm you meet the requirements and pay the fee below.
- Check the result on the state license lookup: your certificate should show a new expiration date.
| Fee (FDOH) | EMT | Paramedic |
|---|---|---|
| Renew on time | $20 | $45 |
| After it expires | $45 | $70 |
Your agency pays for staff renewals? FDOH has an other payer and bulk recertification process. Questions go to the renewal specialists at MQA.EMT-Paramedics@FLHealth.gov.
If you miss midnight
- The certificate goes to involuntary inactive. FDOH: "Failure to recertify an active certificate by the expiration date will result in the certificate being placed in an Involuntary, Inactive status."
- In the first 2 years after, you can reactivate with the renewal fee, the late fee and any education you still owe.
- In the next 2 years, you also have to pass the certification exam again.
- After 4 years it is null and void.
From the FDOH recertification page, checked October 27, 2026. FDOH reactivation form: reactivation of an expired certification.
