NBRC RT exam passing score: two cut scores
From January 2027, one NBRC exam decides both credentials. Here is how it is scored and retaken, from the NBRC's RT exam page and FAQ.
The short answer
Reach the low cut score and you earn the CRT. Reach the high cut score and you earn the RRT.
The Respiratory Therapy Examination is 185 multiple-choice questions: 160 scored and 25 pretest, in 4 hours. The NBRC FAQ says it is first given January 4, 2027. The NBRC has not published the two cut score numbers, so anyone quoting them for this exam is guessing.
