Headed In Privacy Policy

Last updated October 2, 2026

Headed In is a boating safety app operated by David Brady Cox, a sole proprietor in Florida ("we"). It lets a boater share their location during a trip with family members they choose, and texts those family members trip updates and safety alerts.

What we collect

Location is only collected between the moment the boater taps "Start trip" and the moment the trip ends. The boater can pause sharing at any time.

How we use it

Text messages (SMS)

Family members receive texts only after the boater adds their number with their permission. Message frequency varies with how often the boater goes out, typically a few messages per trip. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help.

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that run Headed In: Supabase (database and voice message storage), Twilio (sending text messages), Expo (delivering push notifications to the boater's phone), and Cloudflare (hosting this website). They process data only to provide those services. We may disclose information if required by law or to help emergency responders locate an overdue boater.

How long we keep it

Trip locations are kept until the boater deletes the trip in the app. Voice messages are deleted automatically after 14 days. A family member's view-only link stops working immediately when the boater removes them. To delete all your data, email us and we'll remove it within 30 days.

Children

Headed In is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
