Oklahoma licenses social workers at several levels through the State Board of Licensed Social Workers, including the Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) and the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). New licensees get a one-time provisional license while they pass the ASWB exam for their level. Everything below comes from the board's own pages and rules, checked October 18, 2026. Fees and rules change, so confirm on the linked pages before you pay.
Check with your board. Social Work Ticket is a study aid. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) or any state social work board; ASWB is their mark, used here only to name the exam. Laws on confidentiality, reporting and licensing differ by state; follow your state's law, your agency and your supervisor.

Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers (OSBLSW)
Apply: the application fee is $150; a fingerprint background check runs about $51.25. The board needs an official transcript showing the degree conferred (a registrar's letter is not accepted).
Provisional license: granted once, for one year. In that year you must pass the proper-level ASWB exam (the Masters exam for the LMSW) to activate the full license; if it lapses first, you stop using the credential and reapply for exam approval.
LCSW supervision: practice under a board-approved supervisor (or a qualifying licensee in your agency at least two years post-licensure) and log every week on Form 202. If you work 20+ hours a week, meet for supervision one hour weekly or two hours every other week; under 20 hours, one hour every other week. Group supervision is limited.
LCSW hours: at least 4,000 hours of practice under supervision, at least 3,000 of them in direct client contact (evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of emotional disorders and mental illness), per Rule 675:10-1-5.
LCSW exam: the ASWB Clinical exam.
Renewal: continuing education each renewal period, including 3 hours of ethics.
The steps that hold nearly everywhere: a CSWE-accredited degree, your board's approval (or ASWB's, in a few states), the ASWB exam at the level your license needs, then the license. Every ASWB level has 122 questions (110 scored) in 4 hours; Bachelors and Masters cost $230, Advanced Generalist and Clinical $260, and you wait at least 90 days to retake (ASWB Examination Guidebook, August 2026). A passing score counts in every state for the same exam level. The full walk-through: How to get your social work license.
